Getting the Discussion Started NOW
I read the Expophile post about the weblog graveyard and it was a slap in the face to get posting.
We’ve just uploaded our message board for the Portable Media Expo and Podcasting Conference. I want to start the discussion about the conference sessions and keynotes NOW so that by the time the show arrives, there is a loud roar of conversations as attendees come into each session.
Every keynote and every session has a Comments link next to the title where attendees can post their thoughts on the topic, speakers etc. Here is a link to Friday’s sessions as an example. The challenge is two-fold: 1) Getting people to join the discussion and, 2) keeping the discussion civil when the inevitable disagreements arise.
I have also added general discussion boards below the session and keynote threads in an effort to keep momentum going long after the doors on the exhibit hall close - and we start to get ready for show #2.

It looks like the boards are getting lots of views, but not too many comments. Be curious to know how you’re promoting more conversation.
