CRM for Small Tradeshow Organizers

Rich Westerfield comments on CRM systems via a post from the B2B Lead Generation blog (subscribed - thanks Rich). We currently work with a combination of Act! and Outlook to manage our Exhibitor database and lead tracking. But I’m not happy with it.

Trouble is that managing tradehow leads require very specific things and most CRM software is very expensive and designed for huge enterprises. Those systems that are within budget range of a small company are woefully inadequate.

I’ve considered SalesForce.com but have not visited the site in some time - perhaps it is time to re-evaluate. Tradeshow organizers that I know that are happy with their systems have designed proprietary software. I’d rather buy something off the shelf I can have modified by a programmer to suit our needs. Any tradeshow organizers out there want to license their proprietary system?
