New Media Advertising

I have several blogs that I read the moment a new post shows up in my reader. PaidContent.org is one of them. Although, calling this site a blog is like calling Wired Magazine a tech newsletter. Rafat Ali and his staff deliver the most complete coverage of news and information in digital media and content available anywhere.

While I was attending a conference in Los Angeles a few months ago, someone asked the Vice President of New Media at Major League Baseball what he read to stay up to date and he mentioned one site: PaidContent.org. It was then that my thought that heavy hitters read this blog was confirmed.

So it is a natural place for us to promote the Portable Media Expo and Podcasting Conference. We sponsor the Podcasting section of the site. The nice part about the sponsorship is that any post about podcasting includes our sponsorship designation and a link to our show site. This is the future of advertising in my opinion. A highly targeted content site that allows me to reach the exact audience I want. The shotgun approach of advertising for anything other than mass distribution consumer products is over.

It’s probably unusual for a tradeshow to sponsor another media site (with dollars - not barter!) but so far it is the best money we’ve spent yet to attract quality exhibitors and speakers.
