Hiring a Sales Person
I’m ready to hire another sales person. Between myself and the sales person I already have, we simply cannot make the volume of calls we need to over the next few months.
Finding someone with direct booth sales experience is difficult. Even with thousands of tradeshows here in the USA, it’s a pretty niche job, with few people truly knowing everything it takes to show a potential exhibitor or sponsor the value of tradeshows in general - and then taking it a step further and selling them on the value of your specific show.
In the absence of booth sales experience, someone with magazine advertising sales seems to be a great second choice. If anyone out there knows of another industry that you have found is a relatively easy crossover to booth and sponsorship sales, let me know.

I have a client with a travel show. One of their most productive salespeople was most recently selling LandRovers. He was used to selling people who thought they were adventurers. Now he’s selling booths to people who want to reach that same market.
What else does your market buy?
